FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN DECEMBER 2011

There will be a few neighbors celebrating with traditional decorations but it will not resemble what you have seen in the past. Thanks, though, for your support. And don't forget - food and toys for THE DEEP WELL benefitting needy families will still be accepted at Rita's Ice in Coligny Plaza starting December 1st. Please do not leave them on Dove Street!!

Festival of Lights Update

The Dove Street folks have worked hard since December to find a way to continue our tradition of holiday lights. We have consulted with town staff, officials from local chapters of community service organizations, as well as with organizers of the James Island Festival of Lights (JIFOL) but have been unable to reach a consensus. The bottom line is that, although almost everybody loved the Dove Street Festival of Lights, it will not take place in 2011. Should you have comments or questions, please contact us or your local town government representative.

Dove Street at the Crossings Park - Planning Stage

As we are beginning to plan our 2011 festival we have become increasingly aware that we will need community involvement in terms of volunteers, donated resources, and monetary funds.

We have outlined some potential donation levels below that would be suitably rewarded with corporate signage at event displays, on the event website, and on a larger picture postcard given to anyone contributing to one of the many charities at the event.

Donation Level

Dove Presenting Sponsor $ 10,000
Golden Magnolia $ 5,000
Silver Swag $1,000
Bronze Bulb $ 500
Friend of the Festival $100

If you are interested or know someone that is, please leave the information with the webmaster. We are not taking donations at this time. We are simply gathering this information for planning & budgeting purposes.

Corporate / private donations would be used for purchases of the light displays, equipment, electiricy, to defray the cost of printed material, etc.

And So This Is Dove Street...

And so this is Dove Street
We're glad you've been here
To look at our light show
In our final year

We know we will miss this
We love what we've done
We're 20 years older
Had boatloads of fun

Will all this continue
For others to see
Its up to the town and our
Community

Dove Street Crossings Festival of Lights in 2011?

We are currently working with the town and presidents of several Rotary Club chapters in our region to explore a possible venue for our event at The Crossings Park which is on the right side of Palmetto Bay Road just before the Cross Island Bridge.

Let us know if you have any comments, pro or con, about this suggestion. It would allow for:

- A larger venue with a green, eco-friendly theme
- Community participation by a number of charitable organizations

Remember that in 2010 we will celebrate our finale at the current location. Thanks to all for your incredible support via volunteers and giving. Let's make this year the best ever! Hope to have the lights up the 1st week on December.

Lights Down - Posted 01-03-2009

A huge relief to Dove Street residents appeared in the form of young workers who responded to the call of duty and helped us take everything down today. The group included Donald Gall, Adam Kurtz, and two members of the HHI High School National Honor Society: Marissa Nichols and Colleen Clark. We could not have done it without you guys. You are the greatest!

We cannot begin to tell you how wonderful it is to see so many folks this year on Dove Street. Even our internet clicks seem to be more plentiful than ever this year as our site appears to be the #1 pick when searching Dove Street on Google or Bing. We hope all of you get a chance to see the lights one more time before we take them down on January 3, 2010. We wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope to see you again in 2010!!

Happy Holidays - Posted 12-24-2009

Wow, what a great evening it was on the street! Several caroling groups including those from the Arts Center and a wonderful group from Coligny Plaza were sharing tunes of the season with thousands who walked or drove by. Bubble machines simulating snowfall and a late night downpour accented an atmosphere of celebration and good fellowship which are ever present here. Thanks to all for making our lights more special than ever. The Duke.

We are looking forward to a joyous season on Dove Street where we will get to meet and greet many of you as you walk or drive by. Thanks to our friend Ben Ham , the designer of our popular Dove Street postcards as well as the unique and colorful posters displayed throughout the Island. Thanks to SUNBELT RENTALS whose GENEROUS donation of power-lift equipment allows us to light where no man has lit before! And most of all, thanks to everyone in the Dove Street neighborhood who decorate their homes, wait in traffic to get into their driveways during the entire month of December, and still remain light hearted!
